Lead and Background Vocals
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Tempest comes from a long tradition of musicians and singers in her family. She grew up under the tutelage of her mother Lynnetta, a singer and music director, along with her brother, Marquis, a pianist and singer and sister, Tiffani, a singer.
As a child, Tempest took lessons in classical piano, singing and dance, developing an unequaled voice and the highest level of professionalism as an all-around performer. She worked and performed as the Lead Vocalist with the Junior Black Academy of Arts and Letters in conjunction with the James Madison High School Concert Choir. Developing into a beautiful young lady, Tempest honed the skills of her voice that can deliver the softness of a Billie Holiday to the rockin’ belt of an Etta James. As a result, she became a much sought after singer/performer in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Austin, Texas music scene and onto the national stage with highly renowned artists.
In 2007 while in The School of African and African Diaspora Studies, Tempest went on to release two albums with The Levites and is the featured lead vocalist on the second album, “Rescued” and the song, “In the Name of Jesus.” She continues to perform with The Levites for many events schedule permitting. She wrote the “Tip 2 Toe Theme Song.” She hosts classes, teaching dance and performing live with the troupe throughout the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. See Video

In so doing, she has shared the stage and performed with “Yes, Lord!” Radio, on Kirk Franklin’s “Fight of My Life Tour,” Marvin Sapp, Shirley Caesar, James Fortune, VaShawn Mitchell, Dietrich Hadden, Crystal Aiken, Alexis Spight, Joshua Rogers, Twinkie Clark.
Tempest has sung background vocals for Diana Ross, Myron Williams, Andrea Helms, Dy Verse Music Group under the direction of Reggie Strong, Jr., Bavu Blakes and Bobby “Bluu Suede” Bullard.
Tempest has produced a four song EP titled “Tempest” with Galvin “Ledaris” McKinney. She gives great credit to Producer Stanley Glenn who encouraged her to consider a career in music early in life.
