Lawrence “Peebody” Ferrell Jr. begins the line-up as the ever versatile and progressive drummer. He is the rock and foundation of the new sound being forged by The Markie Z Band. Peebody cites the Influenced by masters of the craft such as Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, JoJo Mayer, Myron Williams and Billy Cobham.
Peebody’s unique and distinguished personal style drives the positive vibe The Markie Z Band creates in their music for delivery to the audience through recordings and live performances. His impeccable resume includes the likes of artists such as the Grammy Award Winning Kirk Franklin, Tamela Mann, Trinity 5:7, Men of Standard, and Grammy Award Nominee Breggett Rideau. In addition, he has shared the stage with Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle, Lionel Harris, Twila Paris, Amy Grant, and many more too numerous to name.
Originally from Tacoma, Washington, but raised in Fort Worth, TX. Peebody started to play drums at the age of two and was initially taught the fundamentals of music, drums, and music theory by Charles Scott Sr. He played all through his formative life in school including the Stage Band for Dunbar High School, Fort Worth, Texas.
While not recording or touring with The Markie Z Band , Peebody is often sought out by multiple artists and ministries, doing session work, drum/percussion clinics teaching private lessons. You will also find him lending his superb talents to the Mount Tabor Christian Center.
